Wine Tasting with Four Seasons & Wonderful blogger friends!

Wine is known as the drink of the Gods, with its rich history which associates right back to the Greek Gods. Indeed, a sip of wine has more potent kick than one whole mug of beer!!

Personally, I have been a wine lover since I first tasted Dom Perignon years ago,  a gift by my Uncle from his Europe trip. Since then, the Indian wine market has opened up and there are some high quality Indian vineyards producing some great wines. 

It was wonderful opportunity for me when Four Seasons organized a wine & food pairing session and invited me over and the great part was that I could call some of my blogger friends too. So, we common group of blogger friends got together at the event at Fres Co, Janpath , CP in Delhi on a hot weekday afternoon. Wonderful company,  cool location, interesting cuisine, and some great wines, I thought what could be better way to spend the hot summer day!!

I walked in with my friend and food & nutrition blogger Sangeeta Khanna to Fres Co and found the decor here to be very soothing, just the right mood for a wine tasting session.

Inside, we were met with another fabulous food & baking blogger Deeba Rajpal, of whom I am big fan!! we sat down and started  chatting as more of our blogger friends started coming in, Rituparna , Purba, Anupama, Snow Leopard and Rekha. The lively company called for a welcome drink and sure, we were served with Four Seasons Blush, a still Rosé wine which was light and invigorating. the Rosé  is a favorite of the husband and there aren't many good Indian Rosé wines; this one really stood out for me, so made a mental not to pick this one from next time.

The wine tasting event was hosted by Miss Earth Universe Shamita Singha, who's quite passionate about wines. She introduced us to the subsequent wines of our session, along with the food paired . She was quite affable and answered our queries patiently and was an engaging host(that's a lot considering she was hosting bloggers who never shy from 'communicating')

  The next wine to be served was a white wine - Chenin Blanc, which really went well with the fresh vegetable salad with bread batons. I quite like the slight fruity aftertaste of the wine which hit the back tongue. While on wines, we discussed couple of myths and well established norms, such as on the Indian vineyards where Four Seasons are made(I was very interested to know this since vineyards tell a lot about the wines),  storing wines, serving them at room temperature(which actually means room temperature in Euro - around 13-14 C). What we all agreed on was that wine making and wine consumption has transformed across the globe; it is mostly about individual taste buds and personal choices now!!

The next wine was a red Merlot, which was accompanied by Tangy vegetable ragout on potato wedges. I loved this wine the most as it was on the drier side and I love dry wines!! the conversation was now at its liveliest best, with people cracking jokes, exchanging personal wine notes and dropping forks by the minute. 

 The wine served with the food was Four Seasons Barrique Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. 

The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged for 9 years in an oak casket and is a Reserve wine. This was my most favorite wine of the lot and I again made a mental note to get this for myself!!

It was the end of the pairing session and we all agreed that all the wine and food pairings at this session were perfect!! 

Shamita Singha & the bloggers took a photo for posterity and we all agreed it was one of the best organized events that we bloggers attended.

It was so nice of Four Seasons to organize this session and I personally felt this was a great way to introduce & promote wines in the Indian market.

We all left Fres Co merrier than we entered it, but not before the lovely Four Seasons management gifted us a bottle of Blush, such a nice gesture!!!

It was an enjoyable event for me, with two of my favorite subjects -  wines and bloggers and I hope such educative & entertaining wine tasting events are held more....I think  all it needs is a sip of wine to be less grumpy and more cheerful!!
