Garden of 5 senses - A treat for all your senses: My Favorite places in Delhi [#9]

Garden of 5 Senses is a wonderfully landscaped garden located in Said-ul-Ajab village in Delhi. This park was conceived as a treat to our 5 human senses - sight, touch, smell, hearing and taste.  The garden is one of the largest in Delhi, spread over 20 acres and has a quirky and rustic architecture which is a mix of flora, sculptures, walkaways, fountains, sitting arenas, amphitheater and much more.

This garden opened to the public in 2003 and since then has been a huge hit, especially in winters and spring.

I discovered this park way back in 2004, when it was not that well known. It so happened that I was in Masters and doing research on garden architecture & landscape planning and stumbled upon this wonder right in my very own city. Since my discovery, all through my college years, this garden became a favorite hangout place!!

What I love here is the mix of the sight, sound and touch...wonderful sculptures positioned at strategic places. Also, this garden has a wonderful array of plants and trees arranged in geometric pattern along meandering walkways with lotus pools and fountains tucked away in cosy corners.

One of favorite things here is the giant windchime.....when its windy, one can hear the melodious tones of this windchime and never get enough of it!!

This garden also has some wonderful country style restaurants and open air lounges, so dining out here is a good idea!!

After i started working, my visits here became less and less, but I recently went there in January, during the Delhi Garden Festival.
It was perfect opportunity to see some amazing flowers, plants(especially bonsai) and once again walk through this wonderful garden. Here are some images of the Garden Festival:

I have re-started love affair with this beautiful park and would be visiting here often...and I would definitely recommend all the delhi-ites to visit this garden, its their very own piece of paradise!!
